Why did I choose these pieces?

For this show, I chose to submit 2 pieces from my Nature Series, Hellebore in Bloom & Dahlia in Monochrome. I felt like these 2 smaller photographs do a wonderful job of showing the type of photography I really love for nature: looking at the small details and bringing focus to natural elements.

Hellebore in Bloom
$75.00

A captivating close-up of a hellebore, or Lenten Rose, in full bloom. The striking deep-magenta petals have a dusty, velvety appearance, making the intricate, bright-yellow and green central stamens appear to glow like a starburst. The flower is surrounded by out-of-focus, purple-hued foliage and other blossoms, focusing all attention on its complex structure.

1,000 Limited Edition Prints, 8×10, 2026

Exhibited at Kathryn Schultz Gallery May 2026 for Cambridge Art Association’s Spring Small Work Fundraiser.

Dahlia in Monochrome
$75.00

Captured at the Gardens for Charlestown, this black and white photograph beautifully emphasizes the intricate layers and striking form of a dahlia in bloom. The monochromatic treatment accentuates the play of light and shadow, revealing the delicate complexity of its petals and the promise of a nearby bud.

Studio 34: Wanderlust Exhibition

HCA Artist Collective

April 27th - August 30th

34 Hayden Rowe
Hopkinton, MA

The theme for this exhibition is "Wanderlust: Artists and Travel". This is artwork inspired by travels or desire to travel.

Who is the HCA Artist Collective?

Our collective began with students and has grown to include volunteers, HCA members and local artists that want to support the Visual Arts at the HCA. We believe that art can spark connection, confidence, and meaningful friendships.

Art isn’t just something you make. It’s something you share. Please join us!

STUDIO 34 is a project run by the HCA Artist Collective to bring artwork from our community into the MetroWest area.

Why did I choose these pieces?

For this show, I chose to submit pieces from my Sculpture Park Series, specifically those from Storm King, which is based in the Hudson Valley. The pieces selected were Bare Branches, Deep Reflections & Horizon of Art & Nature #1 . Due to the vast acres Storm King has, they are able support site specific sculpture that may not be possible or may feel overwhelming in smaller venues. I felt that these site specific pieces may inspire travel to close to where I grew up or to De Cordova in Lincoln for a closer to home trip.

Bare Branches, Deep Reflections
$75.00

This striking image, captured at Storm King Sculpture Park, presents a captivating interplay between stark natural form and tranquil reflection. A solitary, bare-branched tree stands prominently against a bright green grassy hill and a dramatic cloudy sky, its intricate silhouette hinting at the cycle of seasons. Its reflection on the still water below is almost perfectly mirrored, creating a powerful sense of symmetry and depth. In the background, a large abstract sculpture subtly emerges from the landscape, characteristic of Storm King's iconic blend of art and nature, inviting viewers to ponder both the natural world and human creativity.

Medium: Photography, 2022

Limited Edition Print: 1,000, 8×12

Exhibited at STUDIO 34, Hopkinton MA, April - August 2026 for the Wanderlust Exhibition.

Horizon of Art and Nature #1
$75.00

This expansive photograph from Storm King Sculpture Park blends the grandeur of the landscape with monumental art. In the foreground, a vast expanse of meticulously maintained green and golden fields leads the eye toward the horizon. Dominating the middle ground is a striking, triangular steel sculpture, its stark lines a powerful counterpoint to the organic curves of the rolling hills and dense forests that stretch into the misty distance. The dramatic cloudy sky adds an atmospheric depth, highlighting the seamless integration of human creativity within the breathtaking natural environment that defines Storm King.

Worcester Art Museum: Dreams and Dreaming Community Exhibition

April 8–May 1, 2026

Exhibition Reception: Sunday, April 26, 12–2 pm

Dreams are a powerful part of our shared human experience, and the search to find meaning within them has been an artistic venture since time immemorial. Indeed, throughout history, artists from around the world have turned to dreams for inspiration for some of their most moving works. For this non-juried community exhibition, Worcester Art musuem invited artists of all ages and experience levels to share works which explore the concept of dreams and dreaming. Artists were encouraged to approach this topic from any perspective. Examples for inspiration include illustrating a dream you once had, exploring a popular recurring dream type, depicting a daydream, reimagining a popular dream artwork, reflecting on how various cultures have interpreted dreams throughout history, examining the scientific processes behind dreaming, and so much more. All mediums were welcome to submit.

The exhibition is displayed in The Museum’s Higgins Education Wing exhibition space and is free and open to the public.

I chose Desert Relic of Joshua Tree because this Human Artifact is evidence of a dream of the wild west. This picture was taken in the Wall Street Mill area of Joshua Tree National Park, where prospectors came to try and mine the land for resources and to make a life for themselves. Some might see the abandoned car as a failed dream, but I see it as the courage and fortitude that a dream requires, and that gives me hope.

Desert Relic of Joshua Tree
$100.00

This evocative photograph, captured within the rugged and arid beauty of Joshua Tree National Park, tells a silent story of time and abandonment. An antique, rusted car, stripped down to its bare frame, sits as a striking relic amidst the desert flora. Its decaying form, with missing parts and weathered metal, is surrounded by a natural tapestry of dried grasses, low-lying shrubs, and the distinctive spiky yucca plants that characterize the park. The warm, earthy tones of the landscape, combined with the clear desert light, highlight the textures of both the forgotten vehicle and its enduring natural setting, creating a powerful sense of history and the relentless march of nature.

Framed by a delicate web of snow-covered branches, the hearts appear both monumental and vulnerable. The image serves as a poetic meditation on love and endurance, showing how even the heaviest forms can be softened by the quiet touch of nature.

Lotvin Family Gallery: Depth of Field Juried Photography Exhibition

EXHIBIT DATES: March 16 - April 8, 2026 at the Lotvin Family Gallery in Hopkinton, Massachusetts

This exhibit aims to honor the art of photography in all its forms, embracing the wide range of approaches and styles that photographers bring to the medium. By showcasing this diversity, we celebrate the creative spirit and the unique perspectives that make photography such a powerful art form.

The guest judge is Rebecca Skinner.  She picked first, second and third place winners and three honorable mentions that will be announced at the reception on Friday March 20th 6-7PM.

I chose to submit 2 pieces from my Fluidity Series looking at the ebb and flow of ice. I chose “The Surface We Break” and “Nature’s Frozen Glass” because the depth of field is so strikingly different but they depict the same thing: the transition of water from frozen to liquid states.

The Surface We Break
$100.00

A dramatic diagonal split creates a visual metaphor for the different spaces navigated by the LGBTQ+ community. The smooth, frozen expanse represents the cold, solid expectation of conformity or the required façade of silence. The active, liquid side symbolizes the joyous, sometimes turbulent, but ultimately necessary breaking of that surface—the freedom and vulnerability of living with true visibility. The line is not a barrier, but a site of transition and courage, where the choice to flow is made.

Medium: Photography, 2021

Limited Edition Print: 1,000, 12×18

Exhibited at Lotvin Family Gallery, Hopkinton MA, March - April 2026 for Depth of Field Juried Photography Exhibition

Nature’s Frozen Glass

The Idea Kitchen: Evident Nature Juried Exhibition

Curated by Allison Belolan

February 2nd - April 30th

The Idea Kitchen
Larchmont, NY

A group exhibition celebrating artists who investigate the natural world with curiosity, rigor, and wonder.

Evident Nature explores the intersection of art and science, the investigative and the aesthetic. This exhibition focuses on the artists that approach the natural world as both subject and collaborator—those who reveal hidden systems, document ephemeral moments, or celebrate the resilient life that persists in unexpected places.

I submitted “Heart of the Bromeliad” because of the quality of detail in this botanical observation. Bromeliads have shapes that you want to touch to check whether they really are real. In exchange for a bit of light and a drop of water, they treat you to spectacular colors and a tropical feel. There are more than 2800 species and the flowers themselves are very small. You need to really zoom in and take time to observe the beauty of this evident nature.

Heart of the Bromeliad
$75.00

A vibrant pink bloom nestles exquisitely at the core of a striking bromeliad, surrounded by its deep green and rich purple-hued leaves. The intricate textures and contrasting colors draw the eye to the central blossom, celebrating the complex beauty and radiant life force within the plant.

HCA Artist Collective

November 25th - December 18th

Lotvin Family Gallery
Hopkinton, MA

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts opened a call to their artists to donate artwork for their Annual Winter Art Auction & Fundraiser. This year, the gallery director chose the theme of "The Wonder Within,", following their core value to Inspire the Wonder Within.

I chose pieces from my France Series because of the wonder I felt within the country, exploring their parks, chateaus and ancient forts. France was the reason I started photography and has been a touchstone for many of my artistic endeavors.

Normandy Château in Spring
$75.00

This intriguing photograph, taken in the picturesque region of Normandy, France, captures a majestic château peeking through the dense, lush foliage of a surrounding forest. The grand, ornate architecture of the building, with its pointed spires and intricate details, stands in elegant contrast to the wild, natural greens that frame it. A winding, moss-dappled path in the foreground leads the eye deeper into the scene, suggesting a hidden world waiting to be explored. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the sense of discovery, offering a glimpse of historical grandeur nestled within the enchanting landscape.

HCA Artists: The Rapscallion Kitchen & Bar Gallery

November 8th, 2025 - January 30th, 2026

Rapscallion Kitchen & Bar
Hopkinton, MA

Hopkinton Center for the Arts saught work to be shown in the brand new Rapscallion Kitchen and Bar at 22 South Street in Hopkinton. They put together an amazing show that showcased the HCA visual art community.

As my first every art show, they provided a lovely and welcoming space to get my feet in the water of the art world.

I chose these two pieces because I felt that they fit the theme of Rapscallions. Playing with the idea of mischievousness, having a portrait of a beautiful soaring bird with a floating frog, tickled me as a bit silly as a comparison point of the beauty of nature.

Mojave Ascendant
$75.00

A solitary bird cuts a dramatic silhouette against a dynamic sky in Joshua Tree National Park, its wings outstretched in a powerful ascent. Bathed in the ethereal glow of the unseen Mohave desert sun, bordered by soft, iridescent clouds, the image captures a moment of pure freedom and the breathtaking beauty of nature's unyielding spirit.
