After working with RPGBuilder for a month it was decided that that framework might limit the games expandability in the future. While the plan is for the initial demo, and the campaign of the story to be single player, potential endgame activities would be best given a multiplayer framework.
This is where Atavism comes in. Atavism is a java-based client/server model which has many built in features such as grouping, chat, mail, building, and so much more. Basically, if you can think of it as a basic MMORPG feature, Atavism has it.
I have begun reworking my previous logic into the Atavism framework and hope to have all of the details ported by the end of the year. Once that is done, I will continue fleshing out abilities and skills, before moving on to world building and the campaign.
I have a busy few weeks ahead of me, but I believe that these goals are achievable and I look forward to a demo video of my progress with my next update.

Dev Diary #1 - The Start of My Development Era
I’ve decided on a top-down RPG using RPGBuilder and Unity as the platform…
I’ve decided on a top-down RPG using RPGBuilder and Unity as the platform. This month I have the demo for RPG maker starting successfully and have gotten some basic skills, weapon actions, hp and other systems up and running.
The rough outline I have thought of for the story follows our hero, after a visit from outsiders in their town, having a dream calling them to action. From there, without too many spoilers this early, they will quest across the land to different biomes and cities to pursue their goal and save their world.
With the holidays coming up, I’m setting some small goals for myself, like fleshing out Act 1, so I can share a demo video with you soon.
