Shames JCC on the Hudson: 2026 Community Art Show

Reflections of Serenity at Storm King #3
$100.00

This tranquil photograph, taken at the renowned Storm King Sculpture Park, perfectly encapsulates a moment of serene natural beauty. The image features a lush, verdant treeline that cascades down to the water's edge, their vibrant greens mirrored with pristine clarity in the calm surface below. The reflection creates a sense of depth and peaceful symmetry, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the quiet harmony of the landscape. Hidden subtly among the trees, hints of stone structures add a touch of human integration within this natural sanctuary, characteristic of Storm King's unique blend of art and environment.

Community Art Celebration on May 3rd, 2-4pm

The Shames JCC is proud to celebrate the fifth anniversary of our community art show. Artists ages 18 and up were invited to submit original work for display throughout their building, where it will be enjoyed by members and visitors alike. This milestone show honors five years of creativity in our community and welcomes artists of all experience levels, from those sharing their work for the first time to seasoned professionals.

The Shames JCC on the Hudson is a non-sectarian community center, providing meaningful experiences for individuals and families throughout their lives. We are a welcoming, inclusive gathering place that enriches the greater community through social, recreational, educational, social action, supportive service, wellness, and cultural programs and resources guided by Jewish values.

For this show, I chose to submit pieces from my Sculpture Park Series, specifically those from Storm King, which is based in the Hudson Valley. The piece selected was Reflections of Serenity at Storm King #3. Due to the vast acres Storm King has, they are able support site specific sculpture that may not be possible or may feel overwhelming in smaller venues. I felt that these site specific piece, just a drive from the city, might encourage viewers to venture out to the larger Hudson Valley and into nature.
