About the Spring Small Works Fundraiser

Join the Cambridge Art Association for our Spring Small Works Fundraiser, a celebration of affordable, original artwork by local and regional artists. The exhibition will be presented at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery (25 Lowell Street, Cambridge, MA) and features 100 carefully selected works spanning a wide range of media – painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, and more – each priced at $100.

Curated by the CAA Exhibition Committee, the sale offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire original art at an accessible price point while directly supporting the artists and the Cambridge Art Association. Proceeds are split 50/50 between the artist and CAA, and artists who wish to make a greater impact are warmly encouraged to donate their full share to support CAA’s general operating needs.

This event will include an Opening Reception on Friday, May 15, where CAA will honor our Members, Board Members, and Volunteers. The sale will continue on Saturday, May 16, with a bonus Artist Demo with Paul Sears in our gallery. Both events are free and open to the public – we hope you will join us!

Why did I choose these pieces?

For this show, I chose to submit 2 pieces from my Nature Series, Hellebore in Bloom & Dahlia in Monochrome. I felt like these 2 smaller photographs do a wonderful job of showing the type of photography I really love for nature: looking at the small details and bringing focus to natural elements.

Hellebore in Bloom
$75.00

A captivating close-up of a hellebore, or Lenten Rose, in full bloom. The striking deep-magenta petals have a dusty, velvety appearance, making the intricate, bright-yellow and green central stamens appear to glow like a starburst. The flower is surrounded by out-of-focus, purple-hued foliage and other blossoms, focusing all attention on its complex structure.

Dahlia in Monochrome
$75.00

Captured at the Gardens for Charlestown, this black and white photograph beautifully emphasizes the intricate layers and striking form of a dahlia in bloom. The monochromatic treatment accentuates the play of light and shadow, revealing the delicate complexity of its petals and the promise of a nearby bud.
