Sculpture Park Series
A photography project capturing sculpture parks, inspired by Kristin Schiff’s experience growing up in the shadow of Storm King in Newburgh, NY.
This series explores the intersection of time and seasons for site-specific sculpture left, over decades, in nature. These man-made objects intersect to tell a story of human presence and environmental transformation. I developed a lifelong fascination with how massive artistic structures evolve alongside the landscape.
This project seeks to document the fleeting moments and spontaneous natural compositions found within iconic sculpture parks. By capturing the evolving textures and light of these environments, I aim to create a physical record of site-specific beauty that invites viewers to reflect on their own relationship with the outdoors.
This evocative photograph captures Jim Dine’s iconic bronze sculpture, Two Big Black Hearts, transformed by the New England winter. Traditionally known for their dense, textured surfaces—cast from everyday objects like tools, hands, and smaller hearts—the sculptures are here redefined by a heavy mantle of snow. The image highlights the dramatic contrast between the deep, obsidian bronze and the brilliant white drifts. Framed by a delicate web of snow-covered branches, the hearts appear both monumental and vulnerable. The image serves as a poetic meditation on love and endurance, showing how even the heaviest forms can be softened by the quiet touch of nature.

This photograph features artist Olga Ziemska’s The Muse, a slender, anthropomorphic form crafted from wire and found branches. Set against a crisp blue sky and pillowy clouds, the sculpture stands atop a snow-covered rock outcrop, its organic silhouette mimicking the wild growth of the surrounding trees. The image captures the tension between the delicate, spindly materials and the vastness of the winter sky. By isolating the figure against the horizon, it emphasizes a sense of grace and upward movement, transforming weathered wood into a poetic representation of the creative spirit standing firm against the elements.
